How to Combat Static and Frizz

Being a professional in the hair industry, I can tell you that a client’s arch nemesis is always frizz and STATIC and most of the time during the Fall and Winter seasons is when it is just the worst! The root of it all, when it comes to static, is lack of moisture in the cuticle and needing more of a barrier from the elements. Believe it or not there is actually a few things you can do and use that make a huge difference!

Here are two steps you can do when your hair is wet and two steps to do when your hair is dry.

Wet Hair Tips – It starts post shower

To lock in that moisture we need to seal the cuticle as we go from wet to dry. Two products that are a staple for frizz when your hair is wet, is to apply Unite U Oil from mid strand to ends when you hair is damp to hydrate and protect from heat. The other is to use the Unite Silky Smooth Heat Protectant  from mid strand to ends and brush through.

Next you need to blow dry your hair with a boar brush to activate the Silky Smooth system and and seal your cuticle down to lock in the moisture and create a barrier from the dry or humid air.

Dry Hair Tips –

When you are on day 2 or 3 and your hair is starting to frizz and be unruly is when you need to do these two steps at night!

First grab your scalp brush (my favorite is The Score from Ensemble Hair) and in sections, brush the oils from your scalp through your mid strands. Nothing absorbs better into our hair than our own natural oils.

Then using the Unite Dry Conditioner, spray that midstrand to ends and brush through! Dry conditioner is hydrating and has a coat to soften the hair when it gets dry and tangly. Many dry conditioners are heavy and make your hair feel gross which is why I fell in love with the Unite Dry Conditioner because of how lightweight it was even on fine hair. If you need extra bonus moisture then at night you can also use a pump or two of the U Oil to apply to your ends and when you wake up it will have absorbed into your hair.

Before you know it, we will have trained our hair to combat that troublesome frizz that likes to creep up on us this time of year! Give a few of these tricks a try and let me know how it goes !
