Manage Your Time to Create Change

When was the last time you felt like you were living stagnant? Do you have ideas of goals you’d like to achieve or envision yourself differently than you are now? When you go to execute those changes, how many of you look at your week and think … “where can I start making a change that it won’t affect everything else in my schedule”? When your schedule is so full and you want to change something, depending on what it is it can be difficult to completely change things overnight.

As a busy mom, wife or business owner we create a schedule and systems to carry out our daily tasks and when we want to change our schedule, change our focus, work towards a goal, or add a new activity, it can seem like we don’t have the flexibility to make those changes because we’ve created this machine that runs so well OR we are overwhelmed by our existing workload.

I have felt stuck or overwhelmed in my busy life, so it pains me to hear when another woman feels overwhelmed or they feel they can’t progress onto the next level of their goals. Remember WHY you want to implement this change and what the reward will be and put on your boss cap and optimistic attitude and look at your schedule! You will be surprised when you acknowledge you have control and you are going to make a change, how differently your schedule will look.

The way I am able to pivot when I need to and make agile changes that push me quickly into the next level is that I look at my schedule and I choose ONE day a week that I can live my day differently. I’ve also used this method to test run ideas I have without creating too much impact on my existing business. For myself, some of the instances I’ve used this is when: I wanted to start going to the gym, I wanted to test out a new assistant, I wanted to start creating content for social media and many other instances.

One way that I choose to manage my time is to write down my schedule every week in my phone or in a planner and make a todo list in addition to what is already scheduled. Planning intentional time for this new task will help ensure that I get the opportunity to make it happen.

When I am creating my schedule for my week I always am sure to incorporate somewhere in my week 4 VERY IMPORTANT 2-3 hour blocks of time. These blocks of time keep me sane in every aspect of my life. These blocks are…

1. Family Time Block – This can be a family night or date night for the week.

2. Creative Work Block – This is my time to work on a piece of my business or personal development that will progress me to the next level.

3. Oops! Block – You betcha I plan that I will most definitely forget something! This has been a life saver for me with work or family commitments.

4. Personal Care Block – This is my delegated ME TIME! Do not cheat yourself of this because we all need it.

Between the crazy busy schedule I already have with my business, my three kids and my husband AND incorporating these four blocks of time throughout the week, I truly feel like this is how I achieve balance. I definitely feel the most satisfaction when I am getting done what everyone else needs as well as making time for I need to develop and grow as a person.

Remember that you ALWAYS have the control to make changes. Take ownership of your time and take advantage of the big or small choices you have each day to practice your life differently.
