Obviously at this point we know that I’m obsessed with HaloCouture extensions, especially as we enter into the Fall season. In fact, I have an entire collection of every single style. For most normal humans who don’t feel the need to own every option, step 1 is choosing the halo that best fits your needs. That being said, most people think that’s where the conversation ends, but in my opinion, it’s only the beginning.
For most women, purchasing a halo of any kind is an investment and it’s essential to know how to keep it in the best condition possible in order for it to last as long as possible. When caring for you extensions I always say less is more when it comes to product and always treat extension hair better than your own hair because it’s not receiving the natural nutrients and oils from your scalp. All that being said, there are two primary elements when it comes to extension care that I have outlined below and both are equally important.
STYLING
Styling your extensions can often be a game changer in how well they blend with your real hair. That being said, it’s important to style safely in order to keep them as hydrated as possible. I truly believe I have perfected this process by keeping the following things in mind.
- You can use heat on your extensions! I prefer to use a curling iron over a straightener because it is less damaging over time.
- You should brush your extensions before you put them in and after you take them out. If you are in windy weather or you’re typically active, then you may want to brush them in the middle of the day as well.
- When brushing your extensions, be sure to use one hand to hold the top of the weft in place and then brush.
- If your extensions feel dry (which will happen after a few wears) then spray them with SPRITZ from HaloCouture OR put a little bit of oil on your hands and run your fingers through the hair to rehydrate.
WASHING
When it comes to washing your HaloCouture extensions, the HaloCouture Regimen Kit is essential and includes everything you need for the life of your halo. I can’t recommend it enough! You can find out more about the kit here.
As for the actual washing itself, the following steps will preserve and extend the life of your halo substantially, not to mention make it look silky and gorgeous.
- Wet extensions with cold water.
- Apply Revive Shampoo.
- Lather, moving in the direction of the cuticle.
- Rinse with cold water.
- Apply Intense Therapy Mask.
- Comb through to evenly distribute product.
- Leave in for 5 minutes, then rinse with cold water.
- Repeat steps 5-7 with Replenish Conditioner.
- Wring out excess water and apply 2-3 drops of Serum.
- Lay extensions on towel or hang to air dry.
- When mostly dry, blowdry with a brush to smooth out before straightening or curling to style.
I know it feels like a lot of steps, but I promise it will be worth it and you’ll be able to enjoy your halo that much longer.
