My Top 3 Wellness Tips for the Holiday Season

Can you believe we are this close to the holiday season? I feel like I blinked and this year just flew by! There have been so many amazing milestones we’ve hit this year and I couldn’t be more excited to see what’s in store for 2020. I have a feeling it’s going to be a good year. That being said, I need to get through the rest of 2019 first. With new growth has also come busy schedules and stretching myself a bit too thin at times. It happens when you’re running a business, but I’ve had to come up with strategies that will keep me performing at my best.

It’s so easy to get run down when you’re trying to achieve every dream possible, but it’s important to remember that if you’re not at your best, you can’t give your best. I’ve learned that lesson the hard way multiple times and as we approach this holiday season, I’m committed to my wellness. I know I’m not the only one running around like a crazy person and trying to balance a thousand different things so I thought it would be helpful to share a few tips that help me.

  1. Drink lots of water

Often in the cool weather months, we are replacing our normal water intake with hot chocolate and coffee. Although I highly encourage these as well, don’t forget that water is your first line of defense when it comes to flushing out toxins. Hydration is key when it comes to fighting off the inevitable flu bugs that will arise this season.

  1. Invest in self care

I know the holidays can be crazy and it can often feel like we have zero time for ourselves, but it’s important to remember to take care of your own physical and mental health. Whether it’s a day of pampering at a spa, date night with your hubby or even just finding time for a quick 20 minute nap, scheduling in time for ourselves is essential and keeps us sharp during this busy time of year.

  1. Move your body

As we get deeper into the holiday season and the weather continues to change, it becomes more and more difficult to want to exercise. Our health and nutrition goals slowly fade to the bottom of our priority list and before we know it, we’ve gone weeks without truly moving our body. We’ve all been there. That being said, we must rise against the temptation to sit still! Movement is not only important when it comes to staying in shape, but it can help us fight off oncoming colds, sicknesses and stresses that naturally creep up on us this time of year.

These may seem like simple tips, but they can make all the difference. It’s easy to neglect what we need when things get busy, but just remember that you can do more as your best self than you can as a run-down version. Follow along with me this season and let’s keep each other accountable. A little wellness is literally the best gift you can give yourself and the people you love.
