My Perfect Detox Day

Have you ever had one of those weeks where you couldn’t possibly fit one more thing on your plate? Or maybe it’s a string of weeks where you literally haven’t had one day to take a breath.

I hear you, friend. Story of my life.

This year, I made a promise to myself that I would invest in my own self-care on a more regular basis. It’s SO easy to get burnt out, especially when you’re trying to balance being a business owner, wife, mom or {fill in the blank}. As life has become busier, I’ve realized the need to plan detox days.

In other words, a date with myself.

I wanted to share what my perfect day looks like when it comes to resetting, de-stressing and filling my cup back up. So here we go.

First, I reset my diet. I know that I feel best when I’m feeding my body nutritious foods. I eat lots of greens and drink lots of water throughout the day. This instantly increases my energy and lifts the fog that high levels of stress can cause.

Next, I spend a couple of hours outside. There’s something that happens to my soul when my feet touch the ground and the sun hits my face. I instantly feel at peace and the weight of my hectic schedule is lifted.

Then, I leave social media behind for the day…except Pinterest. I think we can all agree that Pinterest is a different beast. For me, it’s a creative outlet. I can cruise around on Pinterest with no opinions, just inspiration. This is a great way to reset your creativity and remember what you have to offer.

Last but not least, I ALWAYS make it to the gym. Natural dopamine is a great way to release stress and recenter. If there was a pill that gave me everything the gym gives me, I would never miss a dose. It’s a game-changer for me personally and even on my busiest days, I try to make sure I make it to the gym. Even if it’s just 30 minutes.

I know this isn’t an exact science and it’ll be different for everyone, but this is what works for me. It’s so important that we remember to take care of ourselves, even when we barely have time to drink a cup of coffee. I know we’ve all been there. But if you can find a way to give yourself this gift, I promise you’ll feel the benefits.
